Approaches to Composite Making

There is an element my work and the work of Pelle Cass, Peter Funch, Danny Santos, Chris Dorley-Brown and to a certain degree Allan Grainger share in common. This is that they are composites made up of images taken in the same location but at different points in time. This differs from a lot of other digital composites where the source material for the composite is derived from different locations and points in time.

Focus Live Study Hangout – 7th March 2021

On the 7th March 2021 I attended for the first time the Focus Live study hangout group. This is a group for peers to give feedback on each others' work, whatever level they are on in their studies. There is also a tutor preset to add further feedback. I found this to be a fantastic experience, talking about my own work and listening to my peers' feedback. It was very convenient for me with Sustaining Your Practice because I could present my work to an audience, articulating my thoughts in the process, as well as look forward to how I might best present the project. However, it wasn't a totally self-indulgent process - I also got a lot from hearing how other people's projects are coming on!

Listening to Candela Podcast and Contemplating Which Context My Body of Work Falls Into

I recently discovered a podcast called Candela: Photography and Cinematography Masters which I've found offers some thought-provoking topics as well as interviewing photography and cinematography masters as the name suggests. There was an interesting snippet on a Candela podcast where Alan Schaller and Christopher Hooton were discussing: When does a photo become digital art?
